Tipping
Hoppers
Tipping
hoppers
are a cost effective and efficient alternative to the traditional below
ground bunker.
With this system, the truck backs into the hopper to tip its
load.
Once the truck has driven off the hopper, the hopper is raised to the
vertical position, the roof is automatically closed, to prevent the
ingress of rain, and the discharge gate is opened to allow for the
discharge of the coal. See the gallery page.
Depending on the site parameters, the coal can be discharged
onto a
transfer conveyor or directly into a bucket elevator, for transfer to
the boiler feed hopper.
The hopper is raised by two multi-stage hydraulic rams, and
each ram
is fitted with fail-safe valves on the discharge ports, which means
that in the unlikely event of a hose being cut, the hopper will remain
in the elevated position.
Coal degradation is minimal, and this results in significant
improvement in the performance and efficiency of the boiler.
We have also developed a very quiet, efficient and reliable
bucket
elevator, which is ideally suited to an installation of this type, and
recommend that you visit our bucket
elevator page for more details. |
