Chain
Conveyors
We
have designed and built a number of different types of chain conveyors
for both sheep and cattle.
Our range includes overhead chain conveyors fitted with under
rail
pushers, over rail pushers, and hinged, extended over rail pushers to
provide a stacker accumulation of carcasses when required.
Chain carry and return runs can be arranged in either the
under/over
configuration, or the more hygienic side-by-side configuration if space
permits. Both the conveyor structure and the pusher
attachments
are fabricated from mild steel and then hot dip galvanised.
We have also designed and built conveyors consisting of
parallel
strands of chain, fitted with steel or stainless steel slats. The most
heavy-duty conveyor of this type is a freezing works bleed conveyor for
cattle, and is designed to withstand the impact of the beast as it
falls out of the knocking box.
Another example of a different type of chain conveyor can be
seen in the fishing vessel unloading system featured in our photo gallery,
which includes a vertical elevator consisting of two parallel strands
of chain fitted with T316 stainless steel mesh belt in between. The
purpose of the mesh belt is to provide moving support for the cartons
of frozen fish, while the chain provides the drive. As with our bucket
elevators, the chain runs in continuous plastic lined guides on both
the carry and the return side.
